Not the type that you say when you smash your finger. If that’s what you though then we need to have a spelling lesson.

A dam that holds back a river to make a lake is an amazing thing.

If you ever look at a dam it will probably be concrete. Sure there are many that are block and dirt and other materials but for the most part dams are concrete which gives them an awfully ominous look. The spider web cracks that develop look like they should crumble at any moment, giving way to a flood of monstrous proportions. These tiny flaws and cracks are just like us. We all have imperfections on the surface that are very visible on the outside.

What isn’t visible is the iron core that supports the dam.

This iron core is the integrity of the dam, just like us. We crack and crumble occasionally on but the core is what holds us up. The cage of morals and ethics that are within us are our real strength, not the small cracks that the world sees on the outside.

Dams have another unique aspect.

They curve into the lake. They lean in towards the opposition. The bigger the dam the more prevalent this becomes.  If you look at monstrous dams they look as though, if there were no opposition, the dam would fall over into the lake.

Just like us.

If we had no opposition to lean in to we would not be as strong. Opposition in life is part of what makes us better but only if we lean in.

Lean it today, even if you have a few cracks.
